Playing this on a Mac with a keyboard is an exercise in frustration. A fair bit of the gameplay is about very carefully walking along very narrow paths which you can fall off of with one false step. Now imagine trying to do that with AWSD keyboard control. :( The artwork is lovely, the music and voiceover are excellent. Alot of style…but the battles feel chaotic in an unpleasant way, and the controls are really poor. Maybe this is much better on a console with that kind of controller. I gave it 3 stars for style and panache, but after playing for a little over an hour Im now stopping and I dont think Ill continue.

This game does not work with my controller yet every other game Ive purchased on App store does. POS. I want my money back. I will be contacting their support. Dont waste your time purchasing this if youre going to use a controller.

This game was designed for XBOX/WIndows with an XBOX controller, and they didnt bother to make the controls work well on the mac! YOU NEED AN XBOX 360 CONTROLLER or you will be very frustrated. It gives you three control setups: • Keyboard and mouse • Mouse (warcraft-style) • Gamepad But the game is too fast and furious to use with the keyboard or mouse—you just get frustrated. It was designed for a gamepad! But they didnt use the regular Mac HID joystick driver—they use a Microsoft-specific XBOX360 driver. If you try to plug in any other gamepad, it wont work! It will get all your buttons confused. When you try to swing, youll go up. Use a potion, youll go right. Its a horrible experience, because the game is otherwise pretty good.

I heard about this game from a close friend back home, who was obsessed with it and wouldnt stop talking about it. I gave the game no more thought until I saw it on sale for $4.99 on here. I decided to try it out, and it was worth every penny! I dont exactly know if I wouldve bought it had it been $15, but I definitely wouldve taken a $10 price. The game is VERY fun, but takes some time to get used to. But trust me; its totally worth it. It has a beautiful storyline, and the gameplay and player interaction is amazing. Controls are simple, and the weapons are awesome, allowing you to customize your character according to your own playstyle.

The first 2 minutes of game play and I was already hooked. Great intro, and narrator!

Visuals- Amazing Music- Amazing Gameplay- Amazing Story- Amazing Game- AMAZING This game is one of my favorite games of all time. It is charming, touching, challenging, deep and rewarding. I would recommend it to anyone from the casual player to the most hardcore gamer. It is a short adventure filled with amazing gameplay and an outstanding presentation. It runs fantastically on my 2012 MBA (specs upgraded to I7 and 8GB of RAM with Intel HD4000). To the skeptics out there, I was one of them and I cant believe what I was missing out on. The ONLY issue I could find at all from a performance perspective was some VERY MINOR screen tearing in the upper 10% of the screen, but it did NOT detract from the expirience at all. Do yourself a favor- buy this game.

The graphics are gorgeous, the narrator is superb, creating drama and even making me laugh with his puns at one point. The upgrade system is great if you dont mind exploring and breaking things apart, which I dont mind at all. I quite enjoy being rewarded with money for breaking things! I wish the real world was more like that. Everything ran great on my 2010 Macbook Pro 15 inch! I can only imagine how much more beautiful the artwork would look if I had a Retina display. I had a few reservations about the WASD keyboard controls, but they worked for me. I figured out quickly that if you hold down two directional keys, you can walk on the diagonal paths that the game favors. I havent mastered the battle mechanics yet when I get swarmed with enemies, but after my first play I will definitely be coming back for more! My only regret is not getting this game sooner. I had heard great things and I am glad I finally downloaded Bastion!

First I want to say that I dont usually buy games from the app store, but when I do I put a lot of time in trying to decide exactly what I want to purchase. I wasnt sure what to expect when I bought this game. It had a lot of reviews talking about how great it was, but sometimes you just have to play for yourself to prove it. I dont regret buying this game at all. I bought it on sale for $5, but I would have payed full price for it. I put over 15 hours of game play into just the story. Theres still loads of extras that I havent played yet. The story is very deep and interesting, a few times I got a little confused and lost with the story, so ill have to play through again, but Ill enjoy every minute of it. The customization of weapons is great, and the amount of weapons and upgrades is large. Overall this is a great game, with a good story and lots of customization. It runs fine on my 2011 macbook pro, and was a thrill to play. Id recommend it to anyone.

Awesome game, hearkens back to some of my first gaming experiences like Prince of Persia (the original, you know, side-scrolling). Great story, incredible graphics and music, seamless game play… one of the best games Ive ever played!

despite a few control issues this game was fantastic. the scenery art and voice acting were so good. i thought that the old mans voice would grow irritating, but it never did. story is amazing and keeps you engaged. weapon variety and rewards for using different weapons keeps the combat fresh. finally the choices you are given in the end really forced me to think. this isnt a game you want to miss

I wrote to them to ask if this game had gamepad support, as it wasnt obvious to me. They wrote back within the hour that yes it does. Just make sure the pad is paired with the Mac before starting the game. I downloaded the game and played for only 15 minutes so far. It looks like Im going to like this one a lot! I just have to translate the XBox controls that pop up in the game with the PS3 DualShock3 controller I use. Thats nothing big. Awesome game concept. Thanks!

This is not a full MAC port given the game does not provide for a programmable gamepad, only XBOX 360 controller! Surprised the APP STORE approved this game with such a glaring problem. The game itself is awesome, but the keyboard/mouse input is way too slow for the play style. PLEASE UPDATE THE CONTROLLER SUPPORT!!!

I was skeptical at first, but once I started playing i couldnt stop! This is the first time ive ever left a review for an App Game, because Bastion is worth it! Beautifully done, the music, the narrator, the color and the gameplay. Everything about this game is worht it!

When I bought this game my friends told me this game was awful. Well screw them! This game is one of the most amazing games I have ever played on the App Store. My only complaint is you can only use one weapon on the Mac version. I highly suggest buying this game. You wont regret it.

This is a well-made, smoothly-playing, visually-entertaining game. At the sub $10 price, its 4 stars. Anything more than $10 is 3 stars. The reason it doesnt earn 5 stars is that using the same difficulty level, the challenges are not evenly matched. The storyline progression levels are much easier than the skill tests. I understand that "tests" means they should be increasingly harder, but its extremely difficult - almost impossible - to complete all the tests vs the level of skill it takes to complete a storyline level. The other flaw is that the town isnt really interactive enough or usefull beyond a few upgrades. For a classic adventure game-player, like myself, I expect that the town will be a bit of an entertaining break from the slogging fragfest, this town isnt, its just annoying that I have to walk all the way back through it up to the teleport every time. Lastly, the narrators voice and manner of speaking is cool and funny at first, but it soon begins to wear on you. The game is definitely worth $10.

This game is def worth the money!, I cant get enough of it and the story telling really makes you feel a part of the game.

This game is amazing, however since the begining of the game, I havent been able to see the floor. This is a problem since I keep falling off and dying, and I have no clue where to go. Ill gladly raise the rating when the bug is fixed!

The game play experience is infallible! I noticed some negative comments about the lack of controller support. I use a PS3 controller without issues. You cant go wrong with Bastion. This is definitely one of my favs. Great job Warner Bros. *System* Mid-2011 iMac 2.7 GHz 4 GB RAM

Beautiful, captivating and imerssive from the word go. The games pace is constantly changing and keeping you interested. From the magnificent hand illustrated environments to the amazing audio engineering achieved. A truely enveloping effect. This is the pretty version of Sin City by Frank Miller, I cant wait for their new release Transistor. Huge respect for this team.
